CCPA, Here comes the New York Privacy Act & it may have more teeth than the CCPA! All this as lobbyists from Tech & other Industries are pushing Washington to pass legislation that will limit the power of States initiated Compliancy legislation.

But according to what we have read, the Democratic House has no plans to allow a bill that ‘waters down’ any State’s Data Compliancy legislation because companies feel complying will be difficult.

So many citizens are angry because their personal information has been compromised, or used against their will, so State Legislators have little choice but to respond with regulations.  We expect most States will adopt some form of Data Compliance Regulations within the year, & any Federal Regulations, if passed, will only provide a ‘Floor’ for minimum obligations required nationally.

Once the EU has the ability to audit Firms identified in the many thousands of complaints, we may see fines being levied & collected in the EU. If California or New York find auditing technology that can swiftly process a company’s data assets the balance of power will quickly shift in their favor. A compliancy project will take 2–5 years without the proper technology, lessen your future liabilities & start proper planning.
