GDPR – Facebook’s Latest Breach Illustrates The Limits Of GDPR by Kalev Leetaru, Enough pointing the finger anywhere but at the companies that are exposing our Personal Data, especially when there are solutions. Individuals are harmed far worse than the billion dollar companies causing customers to have their identities stolen, their credit destroyed, or their reputations unfairly harmed. All this could be avoided, with a bit of re-architecture, encryption technology and the proper vision provided by an individual with experience in this arena.
If a social media firm has a billion users, and 25 million are currently looking at pictures, then only those pictures should be exposed (decrypted), all other images could remain encrypted, safe and protected from hackers. The same should apply to data of all kinds for financial institutions, social media and every other type of company. Only customer’s data being viewed at the moment should be decrypted while all other data should remain encrypted and protected.
With this methodology in place, the large majority of Customer’s Personal Data would be Safeguarded from hackers.
