I am not sure what companies are told by Auditing or Consulting Firms, but I am puzzled that many companies seem reluctant to at least complete a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA), take steps to identify exposed Personal Data and develop a plan to Remediate/Encrypt that data. These are the first steps to protect you and your customers from the consequences of the predicted 2 hacks per year every company in the world will experience.
